Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has called on members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to prioritise unity as the party works to rebuild after its defeat in the 2024 general elections.
Speaking in an interview on The Delay Show with Deloris Frimpong Manso, the statesman stressed that internal cohesion is the most critical ingredient for the party’s revival and long-term relevance.
“Unity is key to the NPP’s future progress,” he said. “We might not be friends or allies, but because we all believe in the principles and ideals of the party, it is important to unite to push the party.”

Kufuor explained that political parties thrive when they demonstrate harmony, noting that Ghanaians are more inclined to support a party that presents a united front.
“Ghanaians appreciate unity,” he stated.
“We will be able to serve Ghanaians better if we are united to serve them well when we win power.”
According to him, unity is not only a strategy for electoral victory but a vital foundation for effective governance and national leadership.
Kufuor’s comments come at a crucial time, as the NPP embarks on internal restructuring following the 2024 loss. The party is expected to elect its next flagbearer in January 2026, a process analysts predict will significantly shape its future direction.
