UN Tourism launches photo contest celebrating Zimbabwe’s culinary heritage ahead of regional forum

A picture competition for young Zimbabwean creatives is being organised by the global tourism authority in advance of the First UN Tourism Regional Forum on Gastronomy and Tourism for Africa.

The “UN Tourism “A Journey through Zimbabwe’s Gastronomy” Youth Photo” Contest uses photography to highlight Zimbabwe’s rich culinary heritage while marketing the area and fostering gastronomy tourism.

The tournament also highlights Zimbabwe’s gastronomy, which is abundant in flavours, ingredients, and customs and is a vital resource for maintaining cultural legacy and advancing equitable and sustainable socioeconomic development both domestically and internationally.

According to UN Tourism, “this platform serves not only to raise awareness but also to inspire and invite locals and travellers to discover and immerse themselves in Zimbabwe’s cultural and culinary wonders by highlighting the country’s traditional dishes, cultural heritage, and unique culinary techniques.”

The photo competition, which is open to young amateurs, offers Zimbabwean communities a unique chance to express their viewpoint and use their cameras to capture the spirit of the country’s culinary legacy. The period of the competition is June 10, 2024, to July 1, 2024. A jury will review the entries from July 1 through July 15, and the winners will be announced during the Regional Forum on Gastronomy on July 26 and 28, 2024, in Victoria Falls.
