Tourism Ministry Announces Temporary Closure of Independence Square for presidential swearing-in preparations
The Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture has announced the temporary closure of Independence Square and its environs to facilitate preparations for the swearing-in ceremony of President-elect John Dramani Mahama.
The closure, which begins at midnight on December 31, 2024, will remain in effect until January 8, 2025.
According to a statement from Deputy Minister Mark Okraku Mantey, the area will be cordoned off by National Security to ensure smooth arrangements for the inauguration.
The ministry has urged the public and tourists to adhere to the directive and plan accordingly during the period.
The Independence Square, a major national landmark and tourist attraction, will reopen after the conclusion of the presidential inauguration activities.
