Suspected serial killer lynched and burnt by mob in Adum-Dominase

A suspected serial killer, Joseph Ankomah, widely known as “Uncle J,” was lynched and burnt by an enraged mob in Adum-Dominase, a small farming community in the Mpohor Fiase District.

The tragic incident unfolded on Thursday, December 19, 2024, following allegations of ritual murders that had sparked fear and outrage within the community.

The mob’s actions were reportedly triggered by the disappearance and subsequent murder of Diana Asante, a 22-year-old mobile money vendor.

Diana was reported missing on December 17, 2024, and after a community-led search, her lifeless body was discovered three days later in a small tunnel near the town hall shed.

Her body had been wrapped in a bedspread, which proved instrumental in connecting the crime to Joseph Ankomah.

Upon identifying the bedspread, the youth of the community traced it to Joseph, a mortician and food vendor well-known in the area.

They stormed his residence, conducted a search, and reportedly found bloodstains and blood-soaked clothes on the premises.

Enraged by the evidence, the mob began assaulting Joseph, who, under intense duress, confessed to the murder of Diana and claimed responsibility for several other killings.

According to his alleged confession, Joseph admitted to murdering four individuals in 2024 alone. He further implicated two prominent figures in the district, accusing them of contracting him to carry out the killings.

Joseph claimed these individuals sought blood and vital organs for ritual purposes in exchange for monetary rewards.

Before law enforcement could intervene, the mob set Joseph on fire, killing him instantly. His charred remains were later retrieved by the police and sent to the mortuary.

Chief Superintendent William Gyamfi, the Mpohor District Police Commander, confirmed the incident to Citi News but declined to provide additional details regarding arrests or the ongoing investigation.

The police have since launched an inquiry into both the lynching and the allegations of ritual killings.

The gruesome incident has sent shockwaves through the community and the nation, raising concerns about mob justice and the alleged involvement of influential individuals in ritualistic crimes.

Authorities have urged the public to remain calm and allow the police to conduct a thorough investigation.
