In response to accusations made by North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa concerning plans to acquire four hotels owned by the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), Minister of Food and Agriculture Dr. Bryan Acheampong has reacted.
The Abetifi MP cautioned Ablakwa against attempting to harm both his and Rock City Hotel’s reputations in a Tuesday interview with Joy FM.
Ablakwa has requested an investigation into the sale of the four SSNIT-owned hotels to Dr. Acheampong in a petition submitted to the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ).
Additionally, he is pleading with CHRAJ to stop and look into the deal. Ablakwa contends in his appeal that there was an infraction of procurement regulations and a lack of due process in the sale of SSNIT’s hotel shares.
However, Dr. Acheampong has expressed his displeasure with his colleague’s activities, calling the accusations baseless and asserting that they are an intentional attempt to damage his reputation.
“You’re just putting things together in an attempt to harm Rock City and myself. “You should stop it; it is extremely unfair and un-Ghanaian,” he declared.
He asked the North Tongu MP to separate himself from his enterprises and, if he had any, to pose sincere inquiries.
“Ask questions if you have concerns about a corporate organisation. You [Okudzeto Ablakwa] are going to ask questions, and I will never stop you from doing so. However, it is unrelated to what you are going through.
“As a politician, I can accept it, but please take note that you are lying, and CHRAJ will verify this for you.”
