The rising politician and entertainment critic Sadiq Abdulai Abu, also known as Baba Sadiq, has been taken to court by Afro-dancehall superstar Livingstone Etse Satekla, aka Stonebwoy, due to remarks the politician made on his X page (previously known as Twitter).
The current Ghanaian Artist of the Year, Stonebwoy, is requesting that Baba Sadiq remove the offensive tweets and offer Stonebwoy an unconditional apology in a writ filed before the High Court of Justice on May 31, 2024.
In addition, Stonebwoy is requesting that the court provide him GHS 3 million in damages for the injury that the tweets have done to his reputation. This is based on the fact that Stonebwoy knows that Baba Sadiq published claims that were untrue, acting deliberately and with the intention of defaming him.
Those who are aware of the details behind the tweets are not surprised by the lawsuit. Social media users were alarmed by Stonebwoy’s choice to disregard Sadiq’s unsettling remarks, which implied that Stonebwoy was a violent abuser of women.
As a result of Stonebwoy’s lengthy history of supporting women’s rights and leading several charitable endeavours, the remarks went viral and sparked contentious debates among fans and the broader public.
The writ demonstrates the Ghanaian icon’s dedication to preserving his hard-earned reputation since he has used the legal system to defend his rights.
