Shocking allegation: Mother allegedly sells two-week-old baby for GHC300

A 35-year-old woman, Mena Efua, is facing allegations of selling her two-week-old baby for GHC300 in Nkotompo, a community within Sekondi-Takoradi in Ghana’s Western Region.

The disturbing claim was confirmed by Efua’s sister, Maame Esi, during an interview on Connect FM’s *Omanbapa Morning Show* with host Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson.

Esi recounted that she helped her sister deliver the baby at home two weeks prior, only for the infant to mysteriously vanish a week later.

“When I asked her, she admitted to handing over the baby to someone in exchange for GHC300 but refused to identify the person,” Maame Esi disclosed, adding that her sister initially claimed she had given the baby to a nurse who promised to find a buyer.

However, Efua has not shared any further details, instead stating that the baby is now somewhere in Accra, yet providing no information on the child’s specific whereabouts.

According to information gathered by Connect FM, Efua allegedly gave the child to an unnamed individual who returned with GHC300, presumably from selling the baby. This development has led the family to seek help in tracking down the child.

The case was first reported at the Sekondi Police Station and has since been handed over to the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) for a thorough investigation.

It has been confirmed that police enquiries are underway, but the child’s whereabouts remain unknown.
