Broadcast journalist and lawyer Richard Sky has categorically denied reports suggesting that he conducted an interview with fellow journalist Bernard Avle regarding Avle’s personal finances and income sources.
In a statement released on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, Sky dismissed the circulating claims as baseless fabrications intended to mislead the public and stir unnecessary controversy.
He further emphasised that any assertion suggesting Avle has suffered professional or personal repercussions due to the alleged interview is entirely false.

“It has come to my attention that fabricated claims are circulating across various online platforms regarding an alleged interview I supposedly conducted with Bernard Avle. I have never conducted any interview with Bernard Avle—on television, radio, digital platforms, or any other medium—discussing his earnings, investments, or financial portfolio,” Sky stated.
He described the reports as part of a coordinated attempt to spread misinformation and tarnish professional reputations. Sky, a staunch advocate for ethical journalism, urged media organisations, digital platforms, and the general public to exercise caution and verify information before sharing or publishing it.
“These claims appear to be part of a coordinated effort to spread misinformation and damage professional reputations,” he added.
Sky reiterated his commitment to ethical journalism and factual reporting while warning that he reserved the right to take legal action against those responsible for the deliberate spread of falsehoods.
“I maintain my steadfast commitment to ethical journalism and fact-based reporting. I reserve all rights to take appropriate legal action against any persons or entities responsible for the deliberate dissemination of these fabrications,” he stated.
The journalist’s response highlights growing concerns over misinformation in the digital space and the potential damage it can cause to individuals and institutions alike. Sky’s strong stance underscores the importance of verifying facts before circulating unverified claims that could harm reputations and mislead the public.
