Kenya’s President William Samoei Ruto has pledged to strengthen the nation’s bilateral relations with Ghana, expanding collaboration across key sectors including trade, investment, agriculture, mining, tourism, and oil and gas.
The enhanced partnership aims to create broader opportunities for the citizens of both countries and promote shared prosperity.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), President Ruto highlighted his recent meeting with Ghana’s president-elect, John Dramani Mahama, where they discussed the expansion of intra-African trade under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
During the meeting, President Ruto expressed gratitude to Mahama for endorsing Hon. Raila Odinga’s candidacy for the African Union Commission chairperson position.
“We will enhance our relations with Ghana to include more sectors in trade and investment, agriculture, mining, tourism, oil, and gas. This will broaden opportunities for the people of the two countries and ensure our shared prosperity,” President Ruto stated.
President Ruto also confirmed his attendance at Mahama’s swearing-in ceremony in Accra next month, signalling Kenya’s commitment to fostering closer ties with Ghana under its new leadership.
The discussions, which took place in Kilgoris, Narok County, were also attended by Hon. Raila Odinga, further emphasising the significance of collaboration among African leaders to drive continental development.
This engagement underscores Kenya’s dedication to strengthening intra-African partnerships and promoting economic growth through strategic cooperation.
