President Akufo-Addo: Posterity will judge our legacy

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed optimism that the true measure of his administration’s impact will be judged favourably by future generations.

Speaking at the Presbyterian Church of Ghana’s (PCG) Bicentennial Anniversary celebration on December 22, 2024, at the Osu Castle, the President reflected on his government’s achievements and their lasting significance.

“I’m confident in all humility that posterity will judge well the Akufo-Addo government’s performance,” he remarked. “Future generations will look back on this era and say that we laid a strong foundation for progress and prosperity.”

The President underscored key milestones in health, education, infrastructure, and governance, emphasising how these efforts have transformed the lives of citizens and positioned Ghana on a path toward sustainable development.

He highlighted initiatives such as expanded healthcare access, educational reforms, and energy infrastructure development as pillars of his administration’s legacy.

“These policies were guided by the vision to uplift our people and create opportunities for growth across all sectors,” he noted. “We have planted seeds that will bear fruit for years to come.”

President Akufo-Addo’s remarks came as part of the PCG’s 200th anniversary celebration, which celebrated the church’s contributions to the moral and social fabric of Ghana.

He acknowledged the church’s steadfast support for his administration and its role in fostering national development.

“Throughout my tenure, the Presbyterian Church has been a source of encouragement and strength, praying for me and sharing in the vision of transforming Ghana,” he said.

The President’s reflection on his legacy comes as his tenure draws to a close, leaving behind policies and initiatives he hopes will endure and thrive under future leadership.

He urged Ghanaians to embrace these foundational efforts and continue building on the progress made.
