President Akufo-Addo inaugurates Agenda 111 hospitals in Ashanti Region today

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will today, December 5, 2024, inaugurate two major hospitals in the Ashanti Region as part of the government’s flagship Agenda 111 initiative aimed at enhancing healthcare infrastructure nationwide.

The facilities to be unveiled include the Atwima Kwanwoma Municipal Hospital in Trede and the Oforikrom Municipal Hospital, both designed to provide modern, comprehensive healthcare services.

The newly constructed 100-bed facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art units to ensure efficient healthcare delivery. According to Dr. Anthony Nsiah-Asare, Presidential Advisor on Health, the hospitals feature:

  • Accident and emergency centres.
  • Neonatal and paediatric units.
  • Maternity wards.
  • Modern diagnostic facilities, including X-ray and laboratory services.
  • Eye, dental, and ENT departments.
  • Public health units, pharmacies, kitchens, and mortuaries.

“These hospitals are fully equipped and staffed with trained personnel to provide quality healthcare,” Dr. Nsiah-Asare noted.

The Agenda 111 initiative, launched by President Akufo-Addo, aims to construct 111 district and specialised hospitals across Ghana. This ambitious project seeks to address overcrowding in existing facilities, improve access to healthcare, and strengthen the overall healthcare system.

The inauguration of the Trede and Oforikrom hospitals is a significant step in fulfilling this vision. These facilities are expected to serve thousands of residents in the Ashanti Region, offering a wide range of services to meet community health needs.

As President Akufo-Addo commissions these hospitals, the event underscores his administration’s commitment to addressing Ghana’s healthcare challenges and improving health outcomes for citizens nationwide.
