Over 100,000 students left for self-placement

The Ministry of Education has officially released the 2024/25 placement results for students entering senior high schools and technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions, marking a critical milestone for Ghanaian students preparing for the next academic year.

This year’s results reveal that while a majority of students have been placed into their chosen schools, over 100,000 students are now tasked with securing placements through the Ministry’s self-placement platform.

According to the Ministry’s statement, out of the 563,339 placement requests submitted by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), a total of 553,155 candidates qualified for placement into various institutions across the country. Of these qualified candidates, approximately 80.93%—equivalent to 447,698 students—were successfully matched with one of their selected school choices.

However, not all qualified candidates received automatic placements. Approximately 104,918 students did not match with any of their preferred institutions, despite meeting the necessary qualifications.

To support these students, the Ministry has activated the self-placement portal, enabling them to select from schools that still have open slots.

This process is intended to give every qualified student a fair opportunity to secure a placement and continue their education without delays.

For students eager to check their placement status, the Ministry has provided a step-by-step process to access results online. Students are directed to visit the official CSSPS website at [www.cssps.gov.gh](https://www.cssps.gov.gh) or [www.cssps.org](https://www.cssps.org), where they can enter their ten-digit index number, followed by the year of completion. For example, candidates from 2024 would enter their index number in the format “123456789024” to view their placement results.

In a bid to streamline support and minimise challenges for students and parents, the Ministry has also established a National Solution Centre at GNAT Hall in Adabraka, Accra.

Additionally, 16 Regional Solution Centres have been set up to provide in-person assistance across the country. These centres will offer guidance on the placement process, including the self-placement platform for unplaced candidates.

For further enquiries, students and parents can also reach out via the official helpline at 0308258001, which has been dedicated to resolving placement-related concerns.

With the release of these results, the Ministry aims to ensure a smooth and equitable transition for all qualified students, affirming its commitment to supporting educational access and reducing placement gaps across the country.
