President-elect John Dramani Mahama has appointed Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Member of Parliament for North Tongu, to chair a newly formed anti-corruption task force named Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) aimed at gathering and addressing public reports of suspected corruption.
A press statement issued on Wednesday, December 18, and signed by the spokesperson of the Mahama Transition Team, revealed that the task force will serve as a platform for citizens to report corruption-related concerns directly, marking a proactive approach to tackling corruption.
As chairman, Ablakwa will head a team of highly qualified individuals, including:
- Daniel Domelevo, former auditor general,
- Nathaniel Kofi Boakye, retired Commissioner of Police,
- Martin Kpebu, private legal practitioner, and
- Raymond Archer, investigative journalist.
The statement emphasised that the diverse expertise of the team is expected to bolster the fight against corruption, complementing existing frameworks and strengthening institutional accountability.
The Mahama Transition Team reiterated the incoming government’s commitment to ensuring the responsible management of public resources. It noted that the task force is part of a broader strategy to rebuild public trust in governance by addressing corruption at all levels.
“This initiative underscores our resolve to hold public officials accountable and encourage citizen participation in the governance process,” the statement affirmed.
Okudzeto Ablakwa’s leadership signals a determined push to elevate transparency in public administration. The task force will work actively to investigate reports, recover misappropriated funds, and restore confidence in Ghana’s governance systems.
This latest move forms a critical part of President-elect Mahama’s broader agenda to uphold constitutional principles and deliver on his promise of a more accountable government.
