Ghanaian hip-life musician Samuel Adu Frimpong, popularly known as Medikal, has taken to the social media platform X to express his frustrations with the New Patriotic Party (NPP), accusing the outgoing government of wrongful arrest and imprisonment.
In a post that has since garnered significant attention, Medikal wrote:
“NPP arrested me for no tangible reason, NPP put me in cells, and locked me up in jail (Ankaful Maximum Security Prison) all in the name of power.”
The rapper further disclosed that efforts by his legal team to engage with higher authorities were met with resistance. “My lawyers tried to communicate with superiors, and all they got in response was, ‘It’s an order from above,’” he revealed.
While reflecting on his ordeal, Medikal addressed Ghana’s president-elect, John Dramani Mahama, urging him to bring about radical changes in governance. Despite expressing distrust, he showed faith in Mahama’s ability to lead.
“Let it be known to the incoming president, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, that I do not trust him but rather believe in him,” Medikal stated.
He called on the new administration to prioritise the welfare of Ghanaian youth, emphasising the need for visionary leadership.
He also appealed to Mahama to consider the future of his son, Sharaf, whom Medikal described as “a good friend of mine.”
Medikal’s statement resonates with growing calls for justice and reforms as Ghana transitions to a new government.
His experience and appeal to the incoming administration highlight the expectations for better governance, especially in addressing youth issues and promoting fairness in the country’s political landscape.
