The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has formally requested an urgent meeting with the Electoral Commission (EC) to address significant discrepancies found during the ongoing 2024 voter exhibition exercise.
In a letter signed by NDC General Secretary Fifi Kwetey, the party emphasised the need for immediate discussions, citing “very serious discrepancies discovered during the ongoing 2024 voter exhibition exercise.”
The NDC expressed concern over irregularities in the provisional voter register, which they believe require urgent attention to ensure the integrity of the electoral process. The letter stressed that a detailed analysis of the provisional register had uncovered numerous issues that need to be addressed promptly.
The voter exhibition exercise, which began nationwide on Tuesday, August 20, is set to conclude on Tuesday, August 27. The purpose of the exercise is to allow registered voters to verify their details and make necessary corrections, thereby ensuring accuracy in the final voter register.
The NDC’s call for an emergency meeting highlights the party’s commitment to safeguarding the credibility of the electoral process as the country prepares for the upcoming elections. The party is urging the Electoral Commission to take immediate action to resolve the discrepancies identified in the voter register to maintain public trust in the election process.
