The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Professionals Forum (ProForum) has lauded the Speaker of Parliament (2021-2024), Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, for his remarkable contributions to democracy, governance, and national development in Ghana.
During an award ceremony held in Parliament on Saturday, the activist group presented a citation to Mr. Bagbin, acknowledging his exceptional leadership and dedication throughout his illustrious career.
Ambassador Sam Pee Yalley, Global President of ProForum, highlighted Mr. Bagbin’s notable achievements during his tenure as a Member of Parliament, Majority Leader, Minister for Health, and Speaker of Parliament.

“Speaker Bagbin’s commitment to Ghana’s development has been unparalleled. His contributions as a legislator and a leader have left an indelible mark on our nation’s democratic journey,” Ambassador Yalley stated.
The citation recognised Mr. Bagbin as a steadfast advocate for democracy and the rule of law, describing his efforts as transformative.
“Speaker Bagbin’s tireless pursuit of transparency, accountability, and service has made the Parliament of Ghana a model of democracy, not only in the country but across Africa and the Commonwealth,” the citation read.
Under Mr. Bagbin’s leadership, the Parliament of Ghana has been lauded for its meaningful debates, impactful legislation, and robust oversight of government activities. ProForum commended his ability to navigate challenges with resilience while upholding the principles of law, order, and progress.
His three-decade-long career has solidified his reputation as a pillar of Ghanaian politics and a valuable asset to the NDC.
In his response, Speaker Bagbin expressed his gratitude for the recognition and pledged to continue upholding the principles of democracy and parliamentary excellence.
“This honour inspires me to remain steadfast in my commitment to democratic proceedings and the development of our nation. Together, we can build a better Ghana,” he said.
