Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the vice president of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and flagbearer, has characterised his running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, as a knowledgable, generational thinker, and problem solver.
He claims to have the utmost regard for Dr. Opoku Prempeh.
“Napo is knowledgeable; I have high respect for him; he is a problem solver; he is a generational thinker,” Dr. Bawumia stated, addressing NPP supporters during the Manhyia South Lawmaker’s introduction as his running partner in Kumasi on Tuesday, July 9.
“Our ticket is full of generational thinkers; we can work together and bring bold solutions to the people of Ghana.”
The president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, voiced confidence in the Bawumia-Opoku Prempeh ticket’s capacity to perform to Ghanaians’ expectations.
At a previous occasion held at the Manhyia Palace on Tuesday, July 9, Mr. Akufo-Addo revealed the NPP flagbearer and running partner. He stated that having worked with both guys, he could attest to their diligence.
“I am confident that the two of them can complete the task. Having collaborated with both of them, I am confident in their abilities. President Akufo-Addo stated, “I am confident that on December 7, after Ghanaians have given them the mandate, they will work to meet the expectations of Ghana.”
Last Thursday, July 4, at an emergency meeting in Accra, the National Council of the NPP unanimously approved the appointment of Dr. Opku Prempeh.
Following the ceremony, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh gave supporters and members of the NPP assurances that he will assist Dr. Bawumia in leading a strong 2024 campaign to end the eight-year electoral cycle.
He claims to know that teamwork is necessary to complete the task at hand. In addition, he urged all NPP members to work together to realise their “ambitious goal of transforming Ghana into a prosperous nation.”
“I express my gratitude to the National Council, the rank-and-file of our party, and our esteemed President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, for their unwavering support and faith in me,” he said in a statement immediately after the National Council of the NPP unanimously endorsed him as the running mate on Thursday, July 3.
