Tensions have heightened in the Awutu Senya East Constituency (Kasoa) following a deadly attack on the campaign team of Naa Koryoo, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate.
The ambush, allegedly carried out by armed individuals in a V8 vehicle, left one team member feared dead and another critically injured. The attack occurred as the team, which included the constituency organiser, was on its way home.
This tragic incident marks the second election-related fatality recorded in a single day. Earlier in Nyankpala, Northern Region, a shooting incident resulted in one death and left another person injured.
Four suspects have been arrested in connection with the Nyankpala attack and are assisting police with investigations. Authorities are working to uncover the perpetrators behind the Kasoa ambush.
The spike in election-related violence has raised alarm nationwide, with security agencies under growing pressure to maintain peace and order as Ghana prepares to head to the polls. Investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
