Mumuni’s track record in governance spans decades, having held multiple high-ranking positions in government. As a former Minister for Foreign Affairs, he played a key role in shaping Ghana’s international relations. His tenure in Parliament saw him serve on various select and standing committees, further solidifying his credentials in legislative affairs.

Addressing journalists after his victory, Mumuni assured the people of the Northern Region that he would effectively represent their interests and contribute meaningfully to national governance.

“I have served in many capacities, from Assembly Member to Presiding Member. I have been in two cabinets—under Presidents Rawlings and Mills—and even served as a running mate. The Northern Region could not have made a better choice,” he stated confidently.

Mumuni emphasised that his experience and knowledge would be invaluable to the Council of State, which serves as an advisory body to the President.

“I have no doubt that I will contribute my quota to enhance the work of the Council of State in helping the President administer this country. The reset agenda is truly on,” he added.

His election signals a renewed focus on experience-driven leadership in Ghana’s governance structure, with many expecting him to champion policies that benefit the Northern Region and beyond.

With the Council of State playing a crucial advisory role, Mumuni’s wealth of experience in governance, diplomacy, and legislative affairs is expected to bring depth to discussions on national development and policymaking.
