Meta’s Facebook, Instagram face downtime with many users logged out

Meta-owned platforms Facebook and Instagram hit a downtime on Tuesday night around 9 pm. Based on the Down Detector, a website that tracks real time instances of outages, Facebook reportedly went down at around 8:57pm. The tracker showed as many as 15,381 reports.

From the users perspective, many of them were suddenly logged out of their Facebook and Instagram accounts. Many users reported being logged out without an option to log back in. The issues occurred to both the app and the website.

So far, the cause of the outage remains unknown. Several users in the US have reported issues with resetting their passwords and using two-factor security login. After being logged out, we at puretvonline.com tried accessing one of our accounts using the two-factor verification method over email, however, we have yet to receive the security code via mail.

Reportedly, the outage seems to have impacted various kinds of businesses and publishers who relied on Facebook for marketing and various outreach activities. Ever since the platforms went off the grid several users were seen flocking to other platforms to find out potential reason and cause behind the outage. X platform showed #FacebookDown trending with thousands of users sharing memes and their take on the outage.
