Henry Nana Boakye, the National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has questioned the National Democratic Congress flagbearer John Dramani Mahama’s assurance that the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration’s Free Senior High School (SHS) programme will be upheld.
Since its start, senior high school students all throughout the nation have had free education thanks to the Free SHS policy.
In a Peace FM interview, Nana Boakye, also referred to as “Nana B,” voiced his doubts about Mahama’s dedication to the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy.
“Free SHS is disliked by former President Mahama, and it is obvious that they will cancel it when they arrive. Their (NDC) conduct and deeds demonstrate their opposition to Free SHS.
“If you’ve watched them, you know that they never emphasise the good things when they get the chance. It is the bad things every day.
In addition to urging Ghanaians not to support Mr. Mahama in the general elections of 2024, Nana B emphasised that NDC MPs are uneasy about the Free SHS bill, which has not yet been introduced to Parliament.
“The NDC MPs are somewhat twitchy when you listen to them. Ghanaians, we beg you to be aware that in the event that Mr. John Dramani Mahama returns, the Free SHS will be cancelled. He doesn’t think it exists. He clearly detests the policy based on his words, deeds, and conduct.
“Ghanaians need to be fully aware of John Dramani Mahama’s character; he has prior presidential experience and opposed free SHS.
It never appealed to him. He declared he wouldn’t invest his money in it. Cast your ballot against him. He stated, “We want someone who is willing to defend the Free SHS legacy—a party that will look out for it.”
