Mahama promises leaner government if …

John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) 2024 flagbearer, has promised to simplify government if he wins this year’s presidential election.

In order to reduce government spending and reinvest the savings in bettering the lives of Ghanaians, he pledged to appoint fewer ministers.

The former president underlined that a leaner government structure would enable enormous savings, which would be used to improve the welfare of important personnel including teachers and other employees during a special live broadcast themed “Mahama Conversations.”

By giving resources top priority, he hopes to address important problems that have an impact on citizens’ quality of life.

“A leaner government is what I guarantee. He declared, “We’ll reduce government spending and have fewer ministers. The money we save will be put towards improving the lives of our teachers and other national employees.

Mr. Mahama, in the meantime, reiterated that the key to growing the country’s economy is his 24-hour economy model.

He emphasised that this project is essential for future growth in addition to being relevant for the here and now.

Mr. Mahama stressed that establishing a 24-hour economy would offer chances for ongoing business activity, resulting in increased growth and productivity.

He restated his conviction that tackling today’s issues and building a solid foundation for long-term, sustainable economic growth require this creative approach.

“The 24-hour economy initiative is the answer for now and in the future. It will create an enabling environment with deliberate policies for businesses, companies, and government institutions to operate 24/7 in a three-eight-hour shift system.”

“In addition to the traditional 8-hour shift system, the two additional work shifts that my administration will introduce will double and sometimes triple the number of jobs that participate in public and private entities that we currently have.”

“This is the 24-hour economy optimisation strategy: giving more to society, providing efficient service delivery, and generating decent and well-paying jobs. The benefits of this system will include, but are not limited to, 24-hour port and harbour services, 24-hour customs services, 24-hour DVLA services, 24-hour agro-processing factories, 24-hour manufacturing industries, 24-hour construction companies, and many more,” he added.
