Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, Founder and General Overseer of Action Chapel International (ACI), has underscored the critical role of justice in achieving and sustaining lasting peace in Ghana.
Speaking at the National Prayer and Thanksgiving Service held at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), on Sunday, January 12, 2025, the Archbishop emphasised that peace is not merely the absence of war or conflict but is deeply rooted in the presence of justice.
“Justice is one of the things that secures peace, and where there is no justice, there will never be peace,” Duncan-Williams declared. “The absence of war and conflict is not the sign of peace. The presence of justice is what guarantees peace. So where there’s no justice, there can never be peace.”
The archbishop called on President John Dramani Mahama and all Ghanaians to uphold justice in their actions and decisions, stressing its importance in building a fair and harmonious society.
Elaborating on the concept of justice, Duncan-Williams highlighted its dual nature, stating, “The meaning of justice is rewarding people for the good done and punishing people for the evil done.”
He urged leaders to ensure fairness and accountability in governance while encouraging citizens to embody the principles of justice in their daily lives.
