I’ve delivered on 80% of our manifesto promises – Akufo-Addo insists

President Akufo-Addo has asserted that his administration has successfully fulfilled 80% of the commitments outlined in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) manifesto.

Speaking on November 5 during a tour of Ghana’s Western North Region, he emphasised the achievements of his government while acknowledging the remaining areas for progress.

Reflecting on the promises made, President Akufo-Addo highlighted significant strides in sectors such as education, healthcare, road infrastructure, industrial growth, agriculture, and cocoa.

He expressed confidence in the government’s ability to deliver on its agenda, despite challenges along the way.

One of the flagship achievements he discussed was the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy. Since its inception in 2017, this initiative has opened doors to education for more than 5.7 million students who previously faced financial barriers. The President emphasised the program’s transformative impact, noting that prior to Free SHS, over 100,000 junior high graduates each year could not continue to senior high school due to financial constraints. “Before I became president, every year, over 100,000 students who passed junior high could not afford to continue. With Free SHS, we’ve dramatically changed this landscape,” he stated.

Akufo-Addo also extended his gratitude to the people of the Western North Region for their steadfast support throughout his tenure.

He underscored the vital role their backing has played in helping the government advance its goals and assured them of his continued dedication to delivering on the remaining promises.

“I wouldn’t stand here and claim that we’ve met every promise; that wouldn’t be truthful,” he acknowledged. “However, I can confidently say we’ve achieved 80% of our manifesto goals. We remain committed to fulfilling the rest as we work towards a better future for all Ghanaians.”
