Inaccurate Applicant Details Stall Passport Deliveries

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has issued a public alert urging passport applicants to verify their contact details, following a wave of failed passport deliveries caused by inaccurate information.

According to the ministry, a significant number of passports have been returned to Passport Application Centres (PACs) after courier services were unable to reach applicants within the standard 21-day delivery window. The undelivered passports are reportedly piling up due to incorrect addresses or non-functional phone numbers provided during the application process.

In a statement released this week, the ministry urged affected applicants to promptly visit the PAC where their biometric data was captured to retrieve their passports. Alternatively, applicants may contact the Passport Client Service Unit on 0302 754 200 to make alternative delivery arrangements.

“The cooperation of the public is crucial in streamlining passport issuance. We strongly encourage all applicants to double-check and ensure the accuracy of their contact details at the time of application to avoid delays,” the ministry said.

The announcement comes amid growing concerns over long wait times and inefficiencies in the passport issuance process.

The ministry has stressed that a simple oversight, such as a wrong digit in a phone number or an incomplete address, can significantly delay passport delivery.
