I’m surprised NDC is still chasing more seats despite winning over 180 – Freddie Blay
Former New Patrirotic Party (NPP) Chairman Mr. Freddie Blay has criticised the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for continuing to contest additional parliamentary seats despite securing a clear majority in the December 2024 elections.
In an interview on Accra-based Joy FM on December 24, Mr. Blay expressed his surprise at the NDC’s insistence on pursuing two or three more seats, even after winning over 180 seats in Parliament.
Blay’s remarks come amid ongoing disputes surrounding parliamentary results and the NDC’s efforts to challenge the outcome in certain constituencies.
He cautioned against undermining the legal process, warning that disregarding court rulings and Electoral Commission (EC) decisions could lead to chaos.
“If justice is denied, can you imagine the chaos this country will run into?” Blay said, stressing the importance of upholding judicial and electoral decisions.
He also highlighted the risks of forcing declarations without following due process, using a scenario where unlawful actions could trigger disorder.
Blay called for calm and urged the NDC to prioritise national stability over further contesting parliamentary seats, reinforcing the need for respect towards Ghana’s democratic institutions.
