Elizabeth Efua Sutherland, the creative director of Stonebwoy’s incredible performance at the 25th Telecel Ghana Music Awards [TGMA], has disclosed that the stagecraft was completed in less than a week.
Celebrity appearances abound at the 25th TGMA, which was held on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre [AICC]. However, Stonebwoy’s performance was the standout act of the evening.
In addition to winning the coveted “Artiste of the Year” award and being named the artist with the most honors that evening [6], Stonebwoy, whose true name is Livingstone Etse Satekla, commanded the stage with his full band.
Not only did his outstanding performance have a lasting impact on the 3 million people in attendance, but it also left a lasting impression on admirers worldwide.
Speaking with Ekow Koomson on Channel One TV’s The Cha monitored by Puretvonline.com, Efua Sutherland responded to a question on how many days it took her to produce such a remarkable stagecraft, saying:
It was not even a week ago. The call arrived somewhat late. Normally, I would put such an act in six weeks. It’s wonderful to see that the effort is valued.
Efua Sutherland, a playwright, dramatist, and poet who is emulating her renowned late grandmother Efua Theodora Sutherland, says she likes to collaborate with “conscious artists,” something she sees in Stonebwoy.
