He Was a ‘Walking encyclopaedia’- Bosome Freho MP Pays Tribute to Paapa Owusu Ankomah

The Member of Parliament for Bosome Freho, Hon. Asafo-Adjei Ayeh, has expressed deep admiration for Paapa Owusu Ankomah, the former MP for Sekondi, describing him as a “walking encyclopaedia” who left a lasting impact on parliamentary proceedings during his 20-year tenure.

Speaking in a radio interview, Hon. Asafo-Adjei reminisced about the times he visited parliament as an observer, captivated by how Paapa Owusu Ankomah commanded debates with his well-reasoned arguments.

“Whenever there was a heated debate on the floor, the moment he got up to speak, you would see the then Speaker, Rt. Hon. Doe Adjaho, turn in his direction. More often than not, he would settle the debate with his submission,” he recalled.

Hon. Asafo-Adjei further revealed that he developed a habit of reading parliamentary Hansards, where he paid particular attention to the submissions and rulings of Paapa Owusu Ankomah.

“I used to read Hansards a lot, and whenever I did, I focused primarily on his contributions. He has had such a great influence on me,” he stated.

The Bosome Freho MP concluded by sending a warm salute to the former Sekondi legislator.

“I love him so much and wish to use your platform to extend my greetings to him, wherever he is,” he added.

Paapa Owusu Ankomah served as MP for Sekondi from 1997 to 2017 and held key ministerial positions, including attorney general, minister of justice, and minister of trade and industry. His legacy in Ghana’s parliament remains widely recognised.
