Gov’t disburses additional Ghc25 million to WAEC
The Ministry of Education has disbursed an additional GH₵25 million to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) to support its ongoing operations and ensure the timely conclusion of marking activities for the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
The financial support, announced on Monday, December 23, 2024, by Ministry spokesperson Kwasi Kwarteng, is intended to alleviate operational challenges faced by WAEC.
This move is expected to expedite the release of the much-anticipated WASSCE results, bringing relief to students and their families.
“We are committed to supporting WAEC to ensure the results are released without further delays. WAEC has assured us that the results will soon be available,” Kwarteng said in the statement.
The additional funding comes as a relief to students, parents, and schools who have been anxiously awaiting the results.
Many students rely on these results to pursue further education, apply for scholarships, or transition to other academic and professional opportunities.
The GH₵25 million injection will enable WAEC to tackle financial constraints and complete the marking and administrative processes. This support highlights the government’s commitment to the smooth functioning of critical educational institutions and ensuring students’ academic progression is not hindered.
As WAEC works to finalise and release the WASSCE results, this intervention underscores the Ministry of Education’s dedication to addressing challenges in the education sector and fostering a seamless academic calendar for all stakeholders.
