Ghanaians Expect Results, Not Just Promises from Mahama’s Leadership- Bawa Mogtari
Special Aide to President John Mahama, Joyce Bawah Mogtari, has emphasised that delivering tangible results is essential for the new administration, asserting that citizens expect their president to meet their needs and expectations.
Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile on January 11, Mogtari highlighted the significance of President Mahama’s first week in office, pointing out key initiatives such as Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL).
“Something great is happening for Ghana. Even before he was sworn in, we had conversations about ORAL,” she said, emphasising that not all actions need to be codified in law.
Mogtari shared some unexpected developments, revealing that some individuals who had previously purchased state assets have now decided to return them.
“Some people who have actually bought lands that were assets belonging to the state are now saying that those assets should be returned to the state,” she explained.
Describing the committee’s findings as “heart-warming,” she critiqued the past practice of allocating state resources exclusively to political affiliates and stressed the importance of fair distribution.
She also underscored that the public is increasingly focused on leadership that delivers results. “People want to see a president deliver to their satisfaction,” she remarked, praising President Mahama’s inaugural speech for addressing the economic difficulties facing ordinary Ghanaians.
Mogtari expressed optimism for the future, quoting President Mahama’s words: “We can dream again, we can hope again, and we can look forward to a leader who will do things and do them differently.”
