Former US President Jimmy Carter Passes Away at 100

Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States, has died at the age of 100, his foundation, the Carter Centre, confirmed.

Carter, who served from 1977 to 1981, was the longest-living US president in history. Known for his focus on human rights and international diplomacy, his tenure faced significant challenges, including the Iran hostage crisis.

After leaving office, Carter dedicated his life to humanitarian work, earning the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002.

The Carter Centre announced his passing in a statement, saying, “Our founder, former US President Jimmy Carter, passed away this afternoon in Plains, Georgia.”

Last year, Carter entered hospice care at home after discontinuing medical treatment for melanoma, which had spread to his liver and brain.

Carter’s legacy includes his relentless advocacy for peace and democracy worldwide, cementing his reputation as a statesman committed to global humanitarian efforts.
