Former Liverpool striker becomes a pastor

Roberto Firmino, a former striker for Liverpool, has turned his life around by becoming ordained as an evangelical preacher.

The Brazilian football player used to social media to reveal this momentous personal change.

He said that three years ago, in their hometown of Maceio, he and his spouse were ordained at the church they founded.

In a moving speech, Firmino stated that his mission as a pastor came from his experience with Christ rather than being his first objective.

Ever since we met Christ, we have been filled with a deep desire for others to experience the same love that has enveloped us. We have another duty at this point. To serve as pastors in accordance with God’s heart and in tandem with the kingdom, Firmino declared.

Firmino had an excellent career from 2015 to 2023 while he was a member of Liverpool. He won seven major championships, including the Premier League in 2019–20 and the UEFA Champions League in 2018/20.

Notably, he netted the game-winning goal in the 2019 Club World Cup championship.

Firmino was a member of the Al-Ahli team in Saudi Arabia during the previous season. He participated in 34 games in all competitions, recording nine goals and seven assists.
