Emulate Ibrahim’s act of sacrifice and selflessness – Bawumia to Muslims

On the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the vice president and flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party, has asked all Muslims to be inspired by the sacrifice and selfless act of Prophet Ibrahim to serve humanity with care and kindness.

Dr. Bawumia spoke at Eid-ul-Adha, saying: “Let us always be inspired by his act of selflessness and sacrifice by caring for each other, and also sacrifice for a worthy cause, for the betterment of humanity. This festival of sacrifice is inspired by prophet Ibrahim’s (Abraham’s) incredible service and obedience to God.”

He wished Allah’s many blessings and a happy Eid Mubarak to all Muslims.

The Feast of Sacrifice, or Eid-ul-Adha, is a significant occasion that Muslims over the world celebrate for three to four days.

The majority of Muslims participate in the special prayers offered at significant mosques and Islamic centres across the globe.

Muslims frequently give gifts and dress in new attire. Youngsters skip school on this day, while many adults take the day off from work.

It is asserted about the Islamic prophet Muhammad that “it is a tradition that has come down to us from Abraham.”

The historical occurrence where Prophet Abraham, also known as Ibrahim, was given the order to sacrifice his son Ishmail (Isaac) by God in a dream vision is the source of the Feast of Sacrifice. God sent the angel Gabriel along with a massive ram when he was in the process of sacrificing his kid. Gabriel gave Abraham the go-ahead to sacrifice the ram as a ransom for his son, telling him that his dream vision had come true.
