Eight Anglican church members burnt beyond recognition, two missing in bus accident – police

Police have confirmed that eight Anglican pilgrims were completely destroyed by fire after their bus caught fire when they were returning from the church’s Bernard Mizeki Annual Festival in Marondera.

According to police spokesperson Paul Nyathi, 14 people were hospitalised and over 50 individuals were hurt, according to NewZimbabwe.com.

Two persons are missing, according to Nyathi as well.

“I can confirm that eight people lost their lives in the collision while we were at the scene. There are also two missing persons.

Before the names of the deceased are made public, DNA testing will be done, according to Nyathi.

Nyathi added that inquiries were still being carried out.

The victims perished while riding a Passion Link bus.

Every year, hundreds of followers from all over the world gather at Bernard Mizeki’s grave in Marondera as part of an annual pilgrimage.
