Ecobank to award US$50,000 to an African Startup in it’s 2024 Fintech Challenge

The Pan-African Financial Services Group, Ecobank, will provide the winning African firm in its 7th Fintech Challenge US$50,000 as well as the chance to expand their products throughout Ecobank’s vast network, which spans 35 African countries.

This comes as a McKinsey report revealed that fintech companies in Africa continue to face a number of difficulties, such as growing, negotiating complex regulatory frameworks, and finding capital.

For fintech entrepreneurs looking to overcome these challenges, the Ecobank Fintech Challenge presents a unique opportunity. Jeremy Awori, the CEO of Ecobank Group, states that forming alliances with fintech companies is a catalyst for advancing financial inclusion in Africa. Fintechs are given top priority in Ecobank’s Growth, Transformation, and Returns strategy. The Ecobank Fintech Challenge has been improved for the purpose of giving fintech entrepreneurs a top platform to present innovative ideas and to create unmatched growth and expansion prospects in 35 African regions.

The significance of this pan-African challenge is underscored by the 1,490 superior quality entries that were received in the previous year’s competition. Those who qualify and progress to the Grand Finale and Awards Ceremony in October 2024 will have the opportunity to be considered for the esteemed Ecobank Fintech Fellowship programme. The ultimate winner will get a US$50,000 cash award.

Through their partnership with Ecobank and its partners, Ecobank Fintech Fellows will have access to a plethora of opportunities, which may include:

  • Multinational product rollout: an opportunity to integrate their solutions with Ecobank, opening doors to potential product launches within Ecobank’s expansive 35-country Pan-Africannetwork.
