EC launches online verification for 2024 voter register

The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced the commencement of the online re-exhibition of the 2024 Provisional Voter Register (PVR), providing registered voters an opportunity to verify their details ahead of the 2024 general elections.

The exercise will run from Tuesday, October 15, to Sunday, October 19, 2024.

This online initiative was confirmed at a Special Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting on October 1 as part of efforts to enhance voter transparency and ensure a smoother electoral process.

The move follows concerns raised by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) about potential discrepancies in the register.

Registered voters can easily verify their information by dialling *711*51# at no cost or visiting the EC’s official website, https://ec.gov.gh. By entering their 10-digit voter ID number, voters can access their registration details to confirm accuracy.

The EC has urged voters to report any discrepancies to their district offices for correction during the re-exhibition period. While voters will still be able to view their details online after October 19, corrections can only be made before the exhibition deadline.

In addition, the EC has requested that political parties use a standardised template to report any irregularities they identify during the verification process.

This initiative is seen as a step forward in improving the electoral process and ensuring that the voter register is accurate and up-to-date ahead of the crucial 2024 elections.
