Dr. Stephen Opuni and businessman Seidu Agongo acquitted of all charges

Former CEO of Ghana Cocoa Board (Cocobod) Dr. Stephen Kwabena Opuni and businessman Seidu Agongo have been acquitted and discharged of all criminal charges brought against them by the state.

The court’s decision follows a request from the state to withdraw the charges. State attorney Enam Loh Mensah informed the court on Tuesday, January 28, that the Republic had officially filed a notice of withdrawal.

Opuni and Agongo had been facing 27 charges over the past eight years, including allegations of defrauding the state, causing financial loss, and violating public procurement provisions. Both men had consistently denied the charges.
