Dr. Kwabena Donkor dismisses ECG’s explanation for power outages

Former Power Minister, Dr. Kwabena Donkor, has urged the public to dismiss claims that the recent power outages across the country are solely due to maintenance work by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).

According to Dr. Donkor, ongoing maintenance efforts are insufficient to cause the widespread power disruptions being experienced.

His remarks follow a joint notice from the Ghana Grid Company Ltd. (GRIDCo) and ECG, which attributed sporadic power interruptions to maintenance activities and reduced output from the Gas Processing Plant (GPP) at Atuabo.

Dr. Donkor’s comments suggest that the current situation may be more complex than the official explanation provided.
