Former Auditor-General Daniel Domelevo has been named as one of the key members of President-elect John Dramani Mahama’s newly established team to tackle corruption and promote accountability.
In a press statement issued on Wednesday, December 18, and signed by the spokesperson of the Mahama Transition Team, the initiative was introduced as a citizen-focused platform to gather and process public reports on suspected acts of corruption.
The anti-corruption team will be chaired by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Member of Parliament for North Tongu, and features a distinguished lineup of members:
- Daniel Domelevo, former auditor general,
- Nathaniel Kofi Boakye, retired Commissioner of Police,
- Martin Kpebu, private legal practitioner, and
- Raymond Archer, investigative journalist.
The inclusion of Domelevo, renowned for his steadfast commitment to accountability during his tenure as auditor-general, underscores the administration’s focus on leveraging expertise to combat corruption.
The statement highlighted President-elect Mahama’s commitment to strengthening anti-corruption frameworks and ensuring responsible public resource management.
“This task force reaffirms our resolve to rebuild public trust and uphold constitutional principles of accountability and transparency,” the statement read.
The team is expected to complement existing anti-corruption measures by encouraging public participation. Citizens will have the opportunity to report concerns directly to the task force, which will investigate, recover misappropriated resources, and support legal actions against offenders.
This initiative forms part of Mahama’s broader agenda to restore confidence in Ghana’s democratic institutions, with Domelevo’s inclusion further signalling the administration’s determination to make accountability a cornerstone of its governance.
