Court accepts WhatsApp conversation between Japka and AG as evidence

The court has accepted the entire WhatsApp conversation between Richard Jakpa and Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame into evidence by the court.

This came about as a result of the Richard Jakpa legal team’s objection to the court accepting the full WhatsApp exchange between their client and Godfred Dame.

The prosecution attempted to introduce the entire WhatsApp conversation into evidence during the prosecution’s cross-examination. It is said that Richard Jakpa sent 68 messages and Godfred Dame responded with two.

However, Thaddeus Sory, the attorney for Richard Jakpa, pointed out that the conversation that was given was different from what the accused had on his phone.

According to Thaddeus Sory, there are questions regarding the veracity of the communications addressed because the dates on the two messages do not add up.

He claims that acknowledging the Attorney General’s version of the WhatsApp discussions will seriously harm people.

However, because the WhatsApp conversations were pertinent to the case, the prosecution petitioned the court to allow their admission. The communications are crucial, according to Director of Public Prosecutions Yvonne Attakora Obuobisa, because the accused acknowledged not providing the full discussion.

Nonetheless, the judge acknowledged in the WhatsApp exchange provided by the prosecution that there will be no prejudice as a result of the exhibit.
