The Catalan Data Protection Authority (APDCAT) will participate in the Mobile World Congress (MWC) from March 3 to 6, 2025, to highlight the importance of integrating privacy protection and fundamental rights into the design of digital products and services.
The authority aims to raise awareness among developers and start-ups about the need for robust privacy measures from the outset of product development.
On Tuesday, March 4, at 12:35 p.m., APDCAT will organise the conference ‘Artificial Intelligence Act and General Data Protection Regulation: Implications for International Cooperation and Enforcement’ at the Agora Stage.

The session will explore the intersection of digital policies, artificial intelligence, and personal data protection from a global standpoint. It will feature Lieven Brouwers, Head of Sector for Data Flows and International Aspects of the Digital Economy at the European Commission, and Meritxell Borràs i Solé, director of the APDCAT. Xavier Urios i Aparisi, head of APDCAT’s Legal Department, will moderate the discussion.
In addition to the conference, the APDCAT will maintain a permanent presence at Hall 8, accessible from the north entrance, where it will run the InfoPrivacy Point. This consultation and advice centre will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to address privacy-related enquiries from attendees and participating organisations. Appointments can be made directly at the stand.
Throughout the event, visitors will also have the opportunity to test their privacy knowledge by participating in the Privacy Warrior Challenge, a contest designed to engage the public in privacy matters.
The APDCAT encourages all MWC participants to visit their stand for expert advice and join the ongoing conversation on the future of privacy in the digital age.
