Bernard Mornah elected PNC 2024 flagbearer

In a significant moment for the People’s National Convention (PNC), Bernard Mornah has been elected as the party’s flagbearer for the upcoming December general elections.

The announcement was made by Electoral Commission officials at the UDS Guest House in Accra on September 7, 2024.

Mornah secured an overwhelming victory, receiving 1,138 votes, decisively defeating his rival, David Apasera, who managed to gather 216 votes.

The election took place during the party’s congress, where national executives were also chosen to lead the PNC into the December polls.

In his victory speech, Mornah extended an olive branch to his opponent, urging David Apasera and his supporters to join forces for the party’s success in the general elections.

Mornah emphasised that unity within the party is essential if the PNC is to strengthen its position and secure political power in the national landscape.

“The real challenge begins now,” Mornah said. “We must come together, set aside our differences, and work towards a common goal—making the PNC a strong force in this year’s elections.”

The congress, which had initially been delayed by an injunction filed by Apasera’s camp, was able to proceed smoothly after the matter was resolved.

Despite the early setback, the event went on without further disruption, paving the way for Mornah’s historic victory.

As the PNC now looks ahead to the December elections, Mornah’s leadership will play a pivotal role in determining the party’s performance in the highly anticipated contest.
