Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is set to officially file his presidential nomination today, Monday, September 9, 2024, at the Electoral Commission’s headquarters.
Accompanying him will be his running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, alongside key figures in the party including the NPP’s National Chairman, General Secretary, and the Majority Leader in Parliament. A select group of party leaders will also be in attendance.
In a statement issued on Sunday, NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong announced that Dr. Bawumia would address party supporters and the public following the submission of his nomination.
“Members of the Party and the general public are invited to be part of this historic moment of possibility in Ghana’s next chapter,” the statement concluded.
Dr. Bawumia’s nomination filing marks a significant step in his bid to succeed President Nana Akufo-Addo in the 2024 general elections, as the NPP seeks to maintain its hold on power.
