“We’ve been together for three years. We finally decided to settle down, and now this has happened,” Florence said. “I was in the room dressing when my mother came in to tell me that my husband was sick and had been rushed to the hospital. I was shocked and confused; I didn’t even know what to do.”

Describing her late fiancé, Florence shared, “He was a respectable and honest man. He would always wait for me before eating. Even when he was at the police station, he made sure I was with him as much as possible.”

Expressing her profound grief, Florence lamented the cruel twist of fate that snatched her joy away.

“I have really suffered in life. This was my moment to be honoured by a man who loved me, but death has taken him away. God, have mercy on me. Why me? Only me?”

Despite her sorrow, she cherished the memories of their time together, saying, “He was my everything. This is not easy for me, but I will forever remember his love and respect for me.”

The incident occurred last Friday at the Anamase Hotel, the venue for the couple’s wedding in Akyem Anamase, near Oda in the Eastern Region.

Eyewitnesses reported that Chief Inspector Beniba, who served as the station officer at the Anamase Police Station, began complaining of dizziness shortly after arriving at the venue with his best men. Moments later, he collapsed on the floor.

Efforts to save him proved futile, as he was rushed to the Anamase Clinic but was pronounced dead on arrival by medical personnel.

The sudden passing of Chief Inspector Beniba has plunged the Akyem Anamase community into deep sorrow. Friends, family, and well-wishers are struggling to come to terms with the devastating loss.

The incident has not only left Florence with a shattered heart but has also cast a shadow over what was meant to be a celebration of love and commitment.
