Audio: Bawumia promised to make Ghana a pharmaceutical hub centre in sub region

The Vice President of Ghana and the Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has promised to make Ghana a pharmaceutical hub centre if voted into power.

Speaking to Pharmaceutical Associations in Ghana, he said Ghana has a comparative advantage over other countries in the whole of pharmaceutical centres in the sub-regions and it important to invest money to support the local manufacturers.

Bawumia believes that without supporting the local manufacturers, it will be difficult to archive the aim of Ghana becoming a pharmaceutical hub in the sub region.

According to him, the demand for pharmaceutical product is high and 70 percent of the products are imported which shows, investing in such industry will easily yield results.

“it is not something that we going to invest and run lost because the demands are high so we are really going to invest into the local manufacturers to make the vision archived”, Bawumia emphasized.

He made this statement when he met the Pharmaceutical Associations of Ghana at Kama Conference Centre in Accra on Thursday, March, 4, 2024.
