Samuel Koku Anyidoho, CEO of the Attah Mills Institute and former NDC National Deputy General Secretary, recently disclosed a significant encounter with President Nana Akufo-Addo.
According to Anyidoho, during his first visit to the president in 2020, he was offered a “blank cheque” (A blank offer asking him what he wants) and he said all he wanted was the construction of Asomdwe Park.
In an interview on Hot FM’s Morning Drive with host Kwabena Prah monitored by Puretvonline.com, Anyidoho revealed that his visit to the president was motivated by a singular purpose: to request the renovation of Asomdwe Park, the burial site of the late President Prof. John Fiifi Attah Mills, in preparation for the upcoming 10-year anniversary of Mills’ passing.
Anyidoho recounted the president’s reaction to his request, describing Akufo-Addo as shocked when he learnt that the sole reason for the visit was to discuss the renovation of the park.
This revelation comes amidst accusations from some NDC executives and members, who have labelled Anyidoho as a sympathiser of the NPP government and accused him of betraying his party.
These allegations, along with mounting backlash from party members and executives, eventually led to Anyidoho’s expulsion from the NDC.
One of the notable accusations came from NDC Deputy General Secretary Mustapha Gbande, who recently alleged that Anyidoho had accepted bribes from the NPP government and had begun to rise against the NDC party.
In response to these claims, Anyidoho vehemently denied ever accepting any bribes.
He emphasised that if he were driven by selfishness, greed, or malice, he would have taken advantage of the opportunity presented by the president.
Instead, he chose to advocate for the renovation of Asomdwe Park, underscoring his commitment to the legacy of the late President Mills and his service to Ghana.
“Sir, we are in 2020, and two years from now, Ghanaians will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the late President Mills, but the state of the cemetery is bad, so please renovate it. Akufo-Addo was shocked and asked if that’s all I want, and I said yes, I swear on my mother’s death,” Anyidoho shared during the interview.
He expressed confidence that President Nana Akufo-Addo would one day recognise and honour him for his loyalty to the late President Mills and his unwavering dedication to serving Ghana.
