Appointments Committee to Vet Muntaka Mubarak as Interior Minister-Designate
The Appointments Committee of Parliament is set to vet Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, the Minister-Designate for the Interior, today, January 24.
Muntaka Mubarak, a seasoned politician and long-serving Member of Parliament (MP) for Asawase in the Ashanti Region, brings over two decades of political experience to the table. Having represented Asawase since 2005, he is one of the most prominent figures in Ghana’s political landscape.
During his distinguished political career, Muntaka Mubarak served as the Minister for Youth and Sports under the late President John Evans Atta Mills’ administration, where he advocated for youth empowerment and sports development. Despite challenges, his tenure left a lasting impact on the sector.

As an MP, Muntaka has played an active role in parliamentary proceedings, gaining respect across party lines for his dedication to national development and his insightful contributions. His nomination as Minister for the Interior signals confidence in his ability to manage the responsibilities of the critical portfolio.
If approved, Muntaka will take on the task of overseeing the Ministry of the Interior, which has significant oversight of national security, public safety, and law enforcement.
