Ghanaian highlife legend Amakye Dede was involved in a serious car accident in the early hours of Sunday, December 29, 2024, while travelling between Apam and Winneba in the Western Region.
According to a statement from his management, the accident occurred at approximately 1:50 am as he and his crew were en route to Agona Swedru after a performance at the Takoradi City Mall.
The injured were rushed to the Winneba Hospital, where they received medical attention between 2:00 am and 6:00 am.

“We are grateful to the medical team for their swift response and care,” the statement read, noting that Amakye Dede is expected to need a few days to fully recover.
Management extended their appreciation to Ghanaians for their prayers and support during this time.
“We thank everyone for the outpouring of love and well-wishes. Your support means the world to us and to Amakye Dede as he works towards recovery.”
The statement also expressed regret for the legendary musician’s inability to honour scheduled performances, particularly in Kumasi.
“We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused and promise to update fans on his recovery progress and rescheduled performances as soon as possible.”
