The Presidential Candidate of the Movement for Change, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, has asserted that his track record in digitalisation surpasses that of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
While Bawumia is often praised as the “digital man” by sections of the NPP and some Ghanaians, Kyerematen claims his contributions to digitalisation are more practical and impactful.
Kyerematen acknowledged that although he may not be as deeply involved in the digital space as Bawumia, he has spearheaded significant digital initiatives.
He highlighted his role in launching Trade Africa Online, the first e-commerce platform designed to support the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Kyerematen emphasised that he was the chief architect behind this initiative, asserting that the design, development, and implementation of AfCFTA were part of his vision.
“This is not a platform that competes with Alibaba or Amazon,” Kyerematen stated, “but rather an indigenous platform that supports African trade and is the biggest project in Africa since the era of the late Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.”
Kyerematen also revealed that he has developed four different tech platforms, further bolstering his digital credentials. He urged Ghanaians to carefully evaluate all the presidential candidates in the upcoming 2024 election, suggesting that his practical contributions to digitalisation make him the most suitable candidate for the presidency.
These comments were made during a one-on-one interview with Kwadwo Sheldon, where Kyerematen sought to strengthen his position as a visionary in Africa’s digital and trade landscape.
