Afenyo Markins urged SSNIT to release documents on the sale of hotels

Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the majority leader in parliament, has pushed the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) to provide Dr. Bryan Acheampong, the minister of food and agriculture, with records pertaining to the sale of its interests in four hotels.

SSNIT is in the final stages of selling Dr. Acheampong’s Rock City Hotel 60% of its interests in the Elmina Beach Resort, Ridge Royal Hotel, La Palm Royal Beach Resort, and Labadi Beach Hotel.

A apparent conflict of interest in the transaction involving Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the MP for North Tongu, has been brought up by stakeholders, who have petitioned CHRAJ to look into the matter.

Afenyo-Markin has demanded, therefore, that SSNIT give the public a thorough explanation of the agreement.
